Båtsfjord is called Norway's Capital of Fishing, join us and let us show why! Join our crew for an experience of a lifetime as we head out into the Barents Sea towards the crab traps on our cabin boat "MS Ellinor" or RIB boat "Frøya".
MS Ellinor: A cabin cruiser for up to 5 guests. A good choice for those looking for extra comfort on the tour, as you can sit inside in the small lounge or spend time outdoors on the deck. There is also a toilet on board. This is a comfortable and warn boat, but please note that this is not the best choice for guests who get very easily seasick.
RIB boat: With up to 10 seats, it offers closer contact with nature and more stability on the sea, making it an adventurous and exciting way to explore. However, the RIB boat is not ideal choise for guests with back pain, or for small children, due to its high seats.
On the trip, our local guide will share fascinating stories about the rich history of the Barents Sea. Did you know that old sailors used to call it the 'Devil's Dance Floor' due to its always so unpredictable nature? You'll hear tales of how people made a living here in the old days and how fishing has always been a way of life for us. Learn about significant events from the Second World War, including partisan activities, and we will cruise past inresting spots like partisan holes, old ship graveyards, and the witch burning site in Makkaur. Our guide's in-depth knowledge will give you a deeper appreciation of this unique and storied region!
Tour Description (3 hours):
Before Departure:
- Meet us at the dock by Båtsfjord Brygge 15 minutes before departure.
- Receive a warm flotation suit.
- Safety briefing on board.
At Sea:
- Head out into the Barents Sea with "MS Ellinor" or RIB boat towards the crab traps.
- Our guide shares exciting stories about the Barents Sea.
- Participate in pulling up the crab traps with the crew.
- Enjoy warm drinks and snacks on board.
Back at Båtsfjord Brygge:
- The kitchen staff at our restuaurant will prepare a delicious, exclusive meal with the day's catch.
- Enjoy a memorable meal in our cozy restaurant.
You don't need to worry about the Arctic breeze – we provide warm flotation suits to keep you safe and warm while you are out on deck enjoying the scenery.
